Make-A-Wish or Make A Difference?

According to their website, the Make-A-Wish Foundation spends an average of $7,362 on a single wish. This could pay for tuition of 60 children in India. Or it could feed 250 children in Bangladesh. With Make-A-Wish's annual budget, they could feed 90,000 starving children who might otherwise die.

But no, with our money raised, let's grant maybe two wishes of already privileged children. Let's enrich the humanity with joy and rainbows and unicorns instead of medical research or treatment for preventable diseases. Let's make dreams come true!

  1. THANK YOU. I completely agree and feel as though the money that make-a-wish makes could be used to impact a bigger number of kids for more significant causes.

  2. The same could be said for raising money for things like school clubs, or the environment, shoe-shopping or car washes ...why spend money boosting your college app or looking good when you could be feeding 12,000 tribal children?
