A new calendar year just means changing the date from x/x/10 to x/x/11 on my schoolwork. It means a feeble new year's resolution that will last approximately 22 days (give or take). It means sales at the mall. It means another year closer to the end of the Mayan calendar, closer to the impending apocolypse. It means - in other words - very little.
The beginning of a new school year, or even a new semester - that's more important.
Happy New Year, everybody, and may 2011 be that magical year where everything goes right!
